CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Another big traffic change is happening in northwest Charlotte. You'll want to prepare for a continuous flow intersection which is a first for North Carolina.

The North Carolina Department of Transportation says the change will affect drivers turning left onto Mount Holly-Huntersville Road. The department spent months and $7.2 million redesigning the intersection in hopes of easing traffic congestion.

"It's going to require a bit of education, a little bit of a learning curve and we don't expect things to go perfectly," Jen Thompson with the NCDOT said.

While the final traffic pattern gets underway, crews will have to wait until after the cold weather to put down the final surface of the roadway. Check out the video below that shows you how left turns will change.
