GASTON COUNTY, N.C. -- Officials have confirmed that the body of Ethan Britt has been found. He was found just below Spencer Mountain Dam after noon Friday.
During a press conference, officials stated that a cross-agency team of 16 plus a canine found him in a spot that had been covered by boat, air, and all other means available. It took water levels dropping to find Britt.
Crews had been seraching for Britt, 14, for several days. It all started Monday when he and a friend were swimming near J.W. Harding Road. The teens did not come home that night.
A driver going down Lowell Spencer Mountain Road saw one of the teens in distress, hanging onto some branches and tress on an island. That teen was taken to the hospital and is in stable condition.
