CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg police are investigating three separate homicides from Sunday in Charlotte, as well as a late Monday night homicide.

Sunday homicide locations:

  • Catherine Simmons Avenue in North Charlotte.
  • Snow Lane in east Charlotte.
  • Yorkmont Road in southwest Charlotte.

The latest murders bring Charlotte's homicide total to 44 for the year so far, including Domingo Venacio-Tapia, who was shot and killed outside of a restaraunt on South Boulevard Monday night.

Sunday afternoon, police were called to Catherine Simmons Avenue in north Charlotte. When they arrived, they found 40-year old Daimeon Terrell with a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital where he later died.

Then about an hour later, a shooting in east Charlotte killed one person and injured another. This one happened at a home on Snow Lane, just off East W.T Harris Boulevard and Albemarle Road. Police say Reco Perry, Jr. went to the home when an argument broke out. He then shot Shalecia Williams.

Perry has been charged with murder and his fiancee, Beyonce Rorie, has been charged with accessory after the fact.

Police say Williams' boyfriend was also shot during the incident and he is expected to be okay. Williams leaves behind a two-year-old son. “God help me. I can’t even remember a lot because I was just going through so much. He [Williams' son] loved his momma, and she loved him very well. She loved her baby," said Shalecia Williams' mother, Shelita.

She continued, "A mother should never bury they child before them. O’m at a loss for words. I don’t know why these kids, why anybody would want to just take somebody’s life and think that  it’s okay. The gun violence has got to stop.”

Sunday night, the third deadly shooting happened in southwest Charlotte. Police were called to Yorkmont Road off Billy Graham Parkway. One person was killed.
