CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The weather is getting warmer and the sun is staying out longer, which means Alive After Five, an Uptown staple for 20 years, is returning soon.
- Alive After Five is back on April 5.
- It is moving from the EpiCentre to a street-level location at 408 N. Tryon Street.
- The celebration is marking 20 years.
For its 20th year, the event, which calls itself Charlotte's "largest weekly happy hour and local entertainment celebration," is returning back to street-level.
Moving from Rooftop 210 at the EpiCentre, it's new location will be at 408 N. Tryon Street, the area where the annual Charlotte Christmas Village is set up.
“We are so excited, in collaboration with Charlotte City Center Partners, we’re are going to bring exciting energy to the North Tryon corridor," said Larry Farber with East Coast Entertainment.
"We started off at Wells Fargo Plaza (then Wachovia), then went to the EpiCentre when it was first built, but we felt we wanted to get back to street-level and bring back that camaraderie that people have in Uptown, being able to come right out of their buildings and starlight to street-level and have a good time on Thursday nights," said Chris McClure with East Coast Entertainment.
For the first Thursday, they will have throwback prices in honor of being 20! There will be $4 beer and wine. This year will feature bands who have performed at the celebration since its inception, including The Breakfast Club, who will perform for opening Thursday.
Alive After Five returns on Thursday, April 4 and typically runs weekly through the summer until September.
