CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A popular Charlotte restaurant owner is facing health challenges and is now turning to the public for help.

  • She says she's been living with end-stage kidney failure since 2017
  • She's turning to the public to try and find a new kidney

Frances Scibelli owns Fran's Filling Station in Dilworth and is battling irreversible kidney disease. She says she's been living with end-stage kidney failure since 2017 and has been on dialysis for the last year and a half.

"I know that my kidney function even at that time, was less than five percent," Scibelli sadi. "The whole thing was kind of shocking to me because I felt, and still feel, perfectly fine."

Scibelli's brother and some close friends were tested, but were not matches for a kidney donation.

Now, she's turning to the public to try and find a new kidney and Scibelli says she's already overwhelmed with the community support.

"I had a vendor that I'm only starting to do business with come and say we want to put it on the side of our truck. Then, a friend's friend came and she has a billboard business and it's up on some billboards."

If you would like to help Scibelli and get tested to see if you're a match, here is the Potential Living Donor Form. You can also find a list of commonly asked questions here.
