CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- CMPD is looking into two bank robberies that occurred on Monday.
- The first incident happened at the State Employees Credit Union near UNC Charlotte around 10:45 a.m.
- Police say a man walked into the bank with a gun, wearing a mask and demanding money
- The second incident happened at the Wells Fargo in Ballantyne
The first incident happened at the State Employees Credit Union near UNC Charlotte around 10:45 a.m.
Police say a man walked into the bank with a gun, wearing a mask and demanding money. The suspect was reportedly stopped by the security guard, who fired his gun, striking the door.
The suspect then fled on foot and got into a car, described as either a Honda Accord or a Civic, and possibly got on I-85.
Later in the day, a bank robbery occurred at the Wells Fargo on Conlan Circle in Ballantyne.
The suspect approached an employee and indicated he was armed with a weapon. The suspect then fled the scene after receiving money.
Detectives say they do not believe, at this time, that the two robberies are connected.
