CABARRUS COUNTY, N.C. – A video taken at a Subway in Concord has gone viral.
- A viral video taken at a Subway in Concord shows a male worker smacking a female customer's phone.
- The woman says the incident started over a sandwich.
- We have reached out to the Subway for their account of the story and were told they did not wish to comment.
According to the woman who posted the video, it happened at the Subway on at 601 and Highway 29.
In the video, a man who appears to be working at the shop walks up and smacks a phone that was in the woman’s hand and tells her to leave.
In the original post, the woman who posted the video, Tina Richardson, says, "The owner thinks that it's ok to smack my phone away, smack me in the head and then throw the sandwich (that I was trying to get corrected by refund or store credit) at my head."
The woman identifies him has “the owner” but that has not been confirmed independently.
Another worker can be seen cussing and telling the woman to leave as well.
While what happened before the camera started recording is unknown, the woman recording says the incident began over a sandwich not looking like it did in an advertisement.
We reached out to Subway and received a statement:
Providing an excellent guest experience is important to us and our expectation is that everyone is treated with respect. The local team has reached out to the guest to apologize on behalf of the restaurant as this incident is inconsistent with the high standards Subway® restaurants requires of its Franchise Owners. The Franchise Owner expressed his regrets for how he handled the situation.
It is unknown if charges will be pressed.
