DURHAM, N.C. – A Christmas tree is thought to be the cause for sparking a fire overnight at a Durham apartment complex.

Officials say fire crews were dispatched to the Carver Terrace Apartments on Front Street around 1:30 Wednesday morning.
One person who lived in the building was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
Durham fire officials are urging residents to make sure trees are watered and not near any heat sources.
They also caution people not to overload electrical circuits and to plug cords into the wall or approved surge protectors.
