LINCOLN COUNTY, N.C. -- Problems are getting bigger for neighbor's in a Lincoln County community whose road was washed away last month from the rains.

  • The county installed a temporary bridge but removed it after it was deemed unsafe and a liability.
  • Hickory Creek is a private road in Denver which cannot be allotted public funds.
  • So far, they've spent around $20,000 in gathering supplies and machinery but are still $8,000 short.

Hickory Creek is a private road in Denver which cannot be allotted public funds.

They've had pipes and other equipment donated but need more.

Tuesday, EMS and the fire department had to be called to help carry a man who had left his home because of the snow storm and couldn't get back to his home.

“We have certainly been talking about moving to get off this private road, but certainly after this is done we're going to have a meeting with the county manager to get the state to take over the road," said neighbor Michael Price.

So far, they've spent around $20,000 in gathering supplies and machinery but are still $8,000 short.
