RALEIGH, N.C. – The North Carolina State fair has another year in the bag. But this year, attendance saw a slight falter.

  • 977,256 people attended the 2018 NC State Fair.
  • This is a drop in number from last year likely owing to the delayed opening.
  • Hurricanes Florence and Michael are likely causes.

This year’s event only saw 977,256 in attendance, compared to more than 1,014,000 last year.

The drop in attendance is likely partially due to Hurricanes Florence and Michael, causing the fair to delay in opening a day.

However, even though the numbers may not be the best, the event as a whole has been praised as a success.

Two days actually saw record numbers in attendance.

And the fair itself featured more rides than ever before.
