GASTONIA, N.C. -- Rankin Lake Park is back open following the search for Maddox Ritch who authorities say was found in a creek.
- Maddox Ritch, 6, was reported missing in Rankin Lake Park
- His body was later found in Long Creek

The six year old had autism and disappeared last month after running away from his father while on a walk.
Rankin Lake was drained while the FBI searched for Maddox. The child’s body was later found in Long Creek. Officials also confirmed that he was at the park.

Maddox will be laid to rest later this week. A visitation will be held from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. on Thursday evening at Raymer-Kepner Funeral Home in Huntersville.
His funeral is set for 11 a.m. on Friday also at Raymer-Kepner. His burial will be private.
