CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- An Independence High School JROTC instructor has been charged with sexually assaulting students.
- Tim Gibson is an Air Force veteran who taught for years at Independence.
- Two students have accused him of sexual assault.
- Police are working to see if there are more victims.
Tim Gibson is an Air Force veteran with years of experience as a JROTC instructor at Independence High School.
CMPD said they launched an investigation into Gibson after receiving information about a sexual assault at Independence High School that happened in early 2018. The victim was a 15-year-old student.
During the investigation, a second victim, who was 17 at the time of the incident, told police that Gibson sexually assaulted her in 2010 when she was a student at Independence.
Gibson has been charged with six counts of indecent liberties with a student.
He was arrested Wednesday. The Crimes Against Children unit is working to see if there are any other victims.
