KINSTON, N.C. – A Lenoir County restaurant narrowly avoided tragedy Saturday when flood waters began rising quickly and their community cat became stuck on a fence.
- Buddy the Cat was saved from flooding waters by a rescue crew from Ohio.
- He is the "restaurant cat" of The Baron & The Beef.
- The restaurant has had him since he was a kitten.
Eddie Summerlin, the manager of The Baron & The Beef in Kinston, was at the restaurant checking on it at the time when the building began to flood around 7 a.m.
Buddy the Cat became stuck and clung to a fence for dear life.
Around noon, a water rescue team in the area from Ohio was able to go out and retrieve him.
Buddy has been at the restaurant since he was a kitten. The wait staff feed and take care of him.
