WINTSON-SALEM, N.C. -- Thousands of people across the country lined up Thursday to participate in Build-A-Bear Workshop's Pay Your Age event.

  • Thursday was planned for Build-A-Bear's Pay Your Age event.
  • Massive lines caused event to be shut down.
  • The company cited law enforcement as a driving force for safety concerns.

However, citing safety concerns from local authorities, the company suspended lines outside stores shortly before noon.

In a statement on their Facebook page, the company said: "Per local authorities, we cannot accept additional Guests at our U.S. Build-A-Bear Workshop locations due to crowd and safety concerns. We have closed lines in our U.S. stores. We understand some of our Guests are disappointed and we will reach out directly as soon as possible."
