INDIAN TRAIL, N.C. -- An Indian Trail resident says a broken air conditioner in his home is now causing safety concerns for his young son and expectant wife.

Kyle Benjamin said the central air broke in his rental property on June 25. Goal Properties responded to the maintenance request 3 days later, but no repairs have been scheduled yet. The family has left the home in the interim.

"No resolution, no timetable for a resolution is concerning. Given that it is July, we've had stretches of 90 degree days, heat index even higher than that. We have no method to cool our house down, on top of that - my wife is 7 months pregnant," said Benjamin.

Goal took over the Benjamin's lease in late Spring 2017. The company, which has properties across 13 markets, is listed on the Better Business Bureau's website with an "F" rating. A dozen-plus complaints mirror what they're dealing with.

"We do review patterns of complaints and make the public aware when we become aware of ourselves of that. Something we're defintely reviewing," said BBB Charlotte's VP of Business Development, Paul Bartholomy.

Goal Properties told Spectrum News the homeowner approved the fix on July 3, and that a maintenance manager would contact the Benjamin family soon.
