CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A beloved South End music venue is set to reopen.

Amos' Southend announced on its Facebook page that it would be returning.

  • Amos' Southend is set to reopen in 2019.
  • It closed in 2016 along with several other Charlotte live music venues.
  • Several bands and artists performed at the venue in its nearly 30-year history.

Their website has also been updated to say "Returning to the Southend 2019."

In Summer 2016, Amos' was the latest closing in a pattern of live music venues to leave Charlotte, after South End's Tremont Music Hall, Elizabeth's Double Door Inn and NoDa's The Chop Shop.

In a similar situation to Amos', Plaza Midwood's Tommy's Pub was closed in 2016 and reopened in a new location in 2017.

Most venues, especially the ones in South End, cited the changing neighborhood as reasons that influenced their decisions to close.

During its initial run, Amos' was open for nearly 30 years in Charlotte -- with about 20 of those being in its South End location. It was previously in the Park Road Shopping Center.

The Amos' location is now also home to the Gin Mill. They are owned by the same management.

Amos' has hosted shows featuring the likes of The Roots, Skrillex, 30 Seconds to Mars, Method Man & Redman and many more.
