CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- A South Carolina mother is speaking out about an incident at Carowinds.

  • Man tried to get teen to leave park with him
  • He was escorted off the property but not charged
  • Carowinds released a statement

Shannon Lake says she was with her family at the water park last Friday when a man approached her 15-year-old daughter and tried to get her to leave the park with him.

Lake informed a York County deputy, who escorted the man off the property.

The man was not arrested or charged with any crime.

Lake says she wants to raise awareness and posted the incident on Facebook.

Carowinds also released a statement saying, "Carowinds' security immediately responded to and addressed a guest complaint in the water park. Safety is our highest priority and we take all concerns seriously."
