CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- The inner loop of Interstate 485 between University City Boulevard and Rocky River Road was shut down for Wednesday morning because of a deadly wreck.

It's unclear how many vehicles were involved but Highway Patrol has confirmed one person is dead.

They say Joel Flowers from Matthews was speeding in a white minivan and crashed into the back of a dump truck that was heading to a construction site.

There's no word on what caused the crash. 

All lanes of I-485 repoened shortly after 6:30 a.m.
