SALISBURY -- They came from all walks of life, and the 5 new officers sworn in this morning in the city of Salisbury are ready to hit the streets.

From seasoned officers, to former professional football and motorcycle athletes, a business man and even a diplomat’s daughter, each recruit is adamant about helping to change the city, and improve police-community relationships.

“Making a difference for my family, and making a difference for the friends that I know, the neighbors, and making the bonds between the police department and the community, it makes a big difference, seeing it in my hometown,” says Officer Trevor Meadows.

Chief Jerry Stokes says they still have 8 more open positions, but they are confident they will be filled by March.
