CHARLOTTE -- Two men are in custody in connection to a violent murder earlier this month.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police say the suspects, Treyvonte Lockheart and Geoffrey Ford, shot and killed 7-Eleven store clerk Khaled Elmerkbaoui as he worked the overnight shift at the convenience store on Dec. 9.
After a failed police chase Wednesday morning, Lockheart was found near Interstate 85 and Sugarcreek Road.
Ford was discovered in a residential neighborhood in South Charlotte near Carmel and Quail Hollow Roads later on in the day.
Both men face a number of charges including murder and robbery with a deadly weapon.
While CMPD isn't looking for any other suspects, the investigation is active.
