CHARLOTTE -- Two people were killed in a crash in north Charlotte early Sunday.
Police say 40-year-old Larry Lockhart Jr. was speeding in the 3400 block of Hubbard Road near Haybridge Road around 1:30 a.m.
Lockhart lost control of the vehicle, drove off the side of the road, down an embankment and hit a tree.
He and his passenger, 42-year-old Tabitha Staton, died at the scene.
Police are trying to determine if alcohol was involved in the crash.
