Hundreds of firefighters battled a five-alarm fire that they say caused extensive damage to an apartment building in Queens.
Officials say flames broke out in apartments on the top floor of a seven-story building on 94th Street and 57th Avenue in Elmhurst around 6:25 p.m. Tuesday.
FDNY Chief of Department James Leonard says the fire caused extensive damage to 112 apartments in the building.
About 200 firefighters responded to the scene. The FDNY says 11 firefighters suffered minor injuries. No other injuries were reported.
The Red Cross is at the scene helping any displaced residents.
The FDNY will investigate the cause.
