FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. - What started as a missing children's case in Fayetteville concluded with a gruesome discovery in the woods in Hoke County, Saturday morning.
The bodies of 2-year-old Serenity Freeman and her 4-day-old infant sister Genesis Freeman were located just outside of Raeford.
The children were stabbed to death.
Their father, Tillman Freeman III, has been charged with two counts of first degree murder.
"This has been an emotional morning. But it makes you want to go home if you've got a little child, grandchild – it makes you want to go home and just hug them and hold them and appreciate the life that they've got," said Hoke County Sheriff Hubert Peterkin.
Tillman Freeman is being held under no bond at the Hoke County jail.
He's scheduled to make a first court appearance, Monday morning, in Raeford.
