The fully rehabilitated Interstate 88 Wells Bridge rest stop in Sidney officially reopened Thursday. The stop, between exits 11 and 12, was closed due to state budget cuts in 2010.
The closest rest areas are 36 and 70 miles away. Drivers are happy that the rest area is open again.
"I want to get home as soon as possible, so it's convenient to be able to stop here and not have to get off and find somewhere to get a snack or whatever to get a break," said Guy Gibeau, a resident of Harrisburg.
Some of the amenities include restrooms, vending machines and picnic areas.
