PITTSFORD, N.Y. -- A TV personality is working with a local distillery to produce a popular Russian liquor.
Zamir Gotta might be familiar to fans of traveling chef Anthony Bourdain.
The Russian filmmaker often teams up with Bourdain for his shows "No Reservations" and "Parts Unknown."
Gotta was at the Erie Grill in Pittsford Wednesday night promoting Zamir Vodka, which he's made in partnership with the Honeoye Falls Distillery.
The vodka is distilled from local wheat grain.
He says the quality of local water drew him to the area.
"I look at my vodka as conversation starter," Gotta said. "I have met people here. They come, ask me some questions. I ask them some questions. That's how we start to get acquinted. Maybe the more we know about each other, traditions, culture, lifestyle, the less problems we have to resolve as misunderstandings."
Honeoye Falls Distillery has been up and running since May of 2015.
Those interested can buy Zamir Vodka in area liquor stores.
