BELMONT -- It’s a story perfect for the Halloween season.

The Charlotte Area Paranormal Society, or C.A.P.S., investigated a possibly haunted home in Belmont over the weekend.

The homeowner says she started hearing and seeing things when she moved in three years ago, but so far it’s been harmless.

“It doesn't bother us. It doesn't mess with us. It's just here,” said Misty Blankenship.  “We don't want it to go because we don't know who it is. If they feel comfortable here and don’t bother us, than it's fine.”

The home does have a bomb fallout shelter and a tunnel buried deep underground.

C.A.P.S. investigators do believe there is paranormal activity at the home, but want to return for further investigation.

A 2013 Harris Poll shows 42 percent  of Americans believe in ghosts.
