CHARLOTTE- The principal at Ranson IB Middle School is asking for at least 100 fathers and men to help welcome students on the first day of school.

This is Erica Jordan-Thomas' second year as principal, and she hopes the group of men will inspire her 1,000 scholars to believe they can achieve and succeed this school year.

She also wants to show them they're loved.

"Often times, you know, middle schoolers are questioning, you know, who cares about me? Because that's what's important when you're 11, 12, 13 years old is what do I mean to other people?" Jordan-Thomas said.

Jordan-Thomas wants this to be the start if a mentorship program so her kids will always remember they support them and they have their back.

"I'm excited to be able to see the faces and reactions of our kids when they see that we care about you, we are excited that you're here, and we're ready for a great and awesome school year."
