CHARLOTTE – There is good news for drivers -- gas prices continue to drop.            

AAA Carolinas reports that prices in North Carolina are down significantly from a month ago.            

The average price for gas right now in North Carolina is $2.05, which is also about 16 cents less than a year ago.

The national average is $2.18.

AAA predicts gas prices will likely remain low for the rest of summer.  

Average gas prices are below $2 per gallon in seven states including: South Carolina ($1.88), Mississippi ($1.97), Oklahoma ($1.97), Tennessee ($1.97), Alabama ($1.97), Arkansas ($1.98) and Missouri ($1.996).
