NORTH CAROLINA -- Though hot weather has been around for weeks, summer is now officially here.
The summer solstice arrives at 6:34 on Monday night when the sun is directly overhead in the Tropic of Cancer.
Monday is the longest day of the year in Earth's Northern Hemisphere, and this year's summer solstice also syncs up with June's full moon. That hasn't happened since 1967.
