CHARLOTTE -- Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday, celebrating the opening of the department’s new Westover Patrol Division Station.
Inside the brand new station, you won't find any cells or metal bars. CMPD said community policing is a core value and a mission at the department.
"We're going to come to the frontage here on West Boulevard and bring with us crime fighting and community engagement like you have never seen," said Chief Kerr Putney of Charlotte Mecklenburg Police Department.
CMPD will also share space in the new station with the Neighborhood & Business Services Southwest Service Area.
