CHARLOTTE -- A Charlotte gun shop is increasing security after an attempted break-in.
Charlotte-Mecklenburg police say last week, someone tried to break into Hyatt Gun Shop on Wilkinson Boulevard by ramming a stolen car into the side of the building.
Owner Larry Hyatt says he put up a new steel barrier that cost $3,500, and that's just one of several repairs and security upgrades in place.
"When these criminals attack, we've had to redo doors, buy these big barriers to prevent trucks from running into our building, burglar alarms, cameras, guards. They cost thousands and thousands of dollars," Hyatt said.
CMPD arrested six teens, ranging from ages 14 to 19, for a series of break-ins, including the one at Hyatt Gun Shop.
They face several felony charges.
