CHARLOTTE – A 36-year old murder case is finally closed. The Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Department identified Gregory Scott Lindaman and Randy Allen Pigg as the suspects in the 1979 murder of five people.
The five victims: William Allen, William Droneburg, Bridgette Benfield, Leonard Henderson, Randall Feazell were found dead inside a house on Allen Road South on July 4, 1979.
Both Lindaman and Pigg were interviewed as persons of interest in the case, but detectives did not have enough evidence to arrest or charge them for the crime. Officials say that a conflict between one of the victims and one of the suspects prompted the shooting.
Based on testimony and evidence that was collected over time, detectives were able to identify the two as the suspects in this case.
Lindamann was killed in a car accident in Houston, Texas in 1990. Pigg died from liver failure in 2007.
