KANNAPOLIS, N.C. -- Instead of welcoming it members, the YMCA in Kannapolis had clean up crews picking up metal pieces off the ground on Father's Day.

The Kannapolis Public Safety posted at tweet on Saturday night that Kannapolis received the brunt of the storm.
CEO Ron Davis said the roof will be waterproofed, ceiling tiles will be replaced, and their insurance will help cover the cost.
“It was raining so hard. The wind was blowing so hard. They were smart to stay inside, so when all the stuff blew down, they were inside safely. So we got them out the side door,” said Ron Davis.
The Y expects to resume welcoming its members, bright and early Monday morning.
“The YMCA is very important in Kannapolis. It's part of the community. It was here with the mill,” said John Brosnahan.
