CHARLOTTE -- A new anti-smoking ad campaign from the Centers for Disease Control launched on Monday, and this is the first time the CDC mentions electronic cigarettes in their ads.

One ad says "I started using e-cigarettes, but kept smoking right up until my lung collapsed."

The campaign warns smokers against the dual-use of e-cigs and traditional cigarettes.

But some people say there's not enough research out there right now to truly outline the benefits and consequences of using e-cigs.

"The ability to really provide a definitive this is a good thing, this is a bad thing, it's just really not there yet," said Mark Schaffner, MyFreedomSmokes.com.

The CDC says smoking is the single most preventable cause of death and disease in the U.S. About 443,000 people die each year from smoking or exposure to second-hand smoke.
