ALBEMARLE -- Police arrested a man after North Carolina state troopers said he led them on a three county chase on Thursday driving at speeds above 150 miles per hour.

State troopers said 23-year-old Demetrius Goode was wanted by police for breaking and entering in Charlotte's Derita neighborhood.

Highway patrol took over the pursuit and said Goode drove on I-85 North down 485 South and onto Albemarle Road.

The chase spanned more than 30 miles, ending in Albemarle.

Troopers said Goode went through stoplights and kept his speed above 100 miles an hour.

A witness saw the pursuit while sitting at a stoplight in Midland.

"If someone had pulled out in front of them, they'd have been dead, that's how fast they were going," said Loveless.

"I just moved here in May. I tried to move somewhere I didn't think that a lot of trouble would be, but here it is in your backyard, little Stanly County," said Mason, a neighbor where Goode was apprehended.

State troopers said Goode faces five breaking-and-entering related felonies and 18 traffic violations including failure to stop for blue lights and speeding.
