CHARLOTTE -- The family of the first person shot and killed by Charlotte-Mecklenburg Police Officer Anthony Holzhauer is speaking out.
Michael Laney was killed in July of 2012 and Holzhauer was cleared of any charges in his death.
Ernestine Laney, Michael Laney’s mother, is saddened and outraged.
"All he had to do was tazer that young lady. He didn't have to shoot her twice," said Ernestine Laney.
It happened in July of 2012 on Crestview Drive. Michael Laney was on the run, wanted for armed robbery. During a struggle with police, Holzhauer shot him in the temple when he thought Laney was reaching for a gun.
The district attorney's office said the use of deadly force was justified.
"He's going to go right back out and try to kill another black person," said Laney, who maintains her son did nothing wrong.
Holzhauer shot and killed another person on Wednesday night. Janisha Fonville, 20, was shot and killed by Holzhauer after police responded to a heated domestic violence call and say Fonville lunged at Holzhauer with a knife.
Chief Rodney Monroe said while it is unusual for an officer to be involved in two deadly shootings, at this time Holzhauer did not face any charges in Wednesday's incident as well.
"He should fire the guy and he should be charged for the murders he's committed because they are wrong," said Calandra Laney, Michael Laney’s sister.
She feels something drastic needs to be done for the police to regain their family's trust. She says the history of hurt continues with the young children her brother left behind.
“It’s so sad for them to be so young and know what happened,” said Calandra Laney.
The district attorney's office will ultimately decide if Holzhauer will be charged in Wednesday's shooting.
