CABARRUS COUNTY -- A Charlotte couple faces a long list of charges in three different counties after authorities say they used a fake escort service to rob several people.

Brandon Fredell and Marta Delcid made their first appearances in Cabarrus County Court Tuesday afternoon. Their charges range from armed robbery to kidnapping.

The investigation began this past December, after authorities say they robbed a Midland man who responded to their online ad for sex.

Roughly two minutes after Delcid showed up at his home, Fredell barged through the front door with a gun. They made off with several of the man's firearms and about $300 in cash.

"In this particular case, we're appreciative of the fact that our victim did come forward because it protects, not only that individual's life moving forward, but others as well,” said Cabarrus County Sheriff Brad Riley.

The sheriff's office says they're to blame for similar crimes in Mecklenburg County and Lancaster County in South Carolina.

The victim in the Midland case will not be charged for soliciting sex and Sheriff Riley strongly urges other possible victims to come forward to help their case.

"If poor decisions are made, you're better off cutting those losses and contacting the police to give us the opportunity to help you as a victim,” said Riley.

Fredell and Delcid are being held on more than $1 million bond each.

Less than a month ago, police say Delcid's brothers were involved in a deadly home invasion in Mint Hill

Police say Carlos Delcid and his younger brother Isai broke into a home on Rolling Fields Road to steal prescription pills.

During the break-in, the homeowner’s 14 year old grandson shot and killed Isai and Carlos took off.

He is charged with burglary and is currently out on bond.
