CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- If you're a millennial ,you may be too young, but for those who remember -- imagine if the show Cheers was still on the air. The idea is that you come in, you feel comfortable, you sit and you stay for a while.
The Daily Tavern co-owner Maynard Goble says that's kind of the story behind how he and his partners named this place.
“We were trying to brainstorm about how do we become a part of people's everyday lives and how do we establish that relationship with the community,” said Goble.
Good service is essential to that goal, and good food is just as important.
The menu is complete with homestyle favorites – like a deconstructed chicken pot pie.
“It's a great base with chicken, carrots, and celery but topped with one of our white cheddar biscuits”
They also have small neck clams with shallots, garlic, roasted tomatoes, and house made chorizo”
And if you’re looking for classic comfort food, you can’t go wrong with the daily mac burger.
“Black angus beef which most steakhouses use for steaks, we grind it and put it into a burger, the work that we put into it,” said Goble.
He says virtually anything on the 30-item menu pairs nicely with the G-Man, “a modern twist on a classic cocktail,” which some may know as a vodka gimlet -- a martini made with vodka and lime juice.
The laid back atmosphere , under low lighting, will leave folks feeling a bit nostalgic in this hidden gem in Uptown Charlotte’s Fourth Ward.
