RALEIGH, N.C. —  Working in law enforcement isn’t easy, just ask the woman who leads one of North Carolina’s largest police forces.

Chief Cassandra Deck-Brown says the job takes immense training and dedication, but in the end, it’s all worth it. And now, she and Administrative Services Division Commander, Sherry Hunter, are calling on members of the community to join them in their Civilian Police Force.

The 10 week program aims to offer transparency into the training those with a badge undergo, including the use of deadly force, the legal system, communications, drugs and gangs, violence intervention, mental health training and forensics.

Spectrum News anchor Caroline Blair sat down with Chief Deck-Brown for a rare 2 part In Depth interview.

The 10 week Citizens Police academy registration ends May 1 at 5pm. You must be at least 21 years old to attend and either work or live in Raleigh. To learn more or sign up, you can call 919-996-1586 or visit their website
