K-9 Officer Doug Williams was a recent recipient when he was pulled over in his patrol car and shown a token of appreciation. He had an unexpected interaction with a couple in a Jeep.
“I pulled over here, out to this parking lot and met with them [the Jeep couple] briefly, talked to them, and they expressed their gratitude for my service and thanking me for helping them get to where they needed to be,” Williams said.
That wasn’t the end of their conversation.
“We just kinda laughed and smiled, and I think the husband was embarrassed at first, but his wife was not so much,” Williams said. “We exchanged laughter with each other.”
The laughter came from a yellow rubber duck with a small note attached to it, gifted by the couple in the Jeep to Williams.
“I do believe there are other ducks that they give,” Williams said.
Williams got “ducked” by members of the Ducking Jeep Community. It's a trend across the country bringing rubber ducks to the road to spread kindness.
“His wife was very into the Ducking Jeep Community, and they were very grateful for my service,” Williams said. “We really appreciate it. It just means a lot to us to be able to be a part of somebody’s life like that.”
