The North Carolina Department of Health and Human Services recently announced that more than 389,000 people have enrolled in Medicaid since expansion launched in our state last December.

The rapid enrollment of hundreds of thousands of North Carolinians is a longtime coming for advocates who pushed for Medicaid expansion in North Carolina for years.

That includes the Care 4 Carolina Coalition, which formed with the singular purpose of getting Medicaid expansion done in our state. With the mission accomplished, the group recently announced it will be winding down operations this spring.

Two of the organization's top leaders, Chair Peg O'Connell and Executive Director Abby Emanuelson, join us with more on the recent developments.
