Anissa Lopez joined the Spectrum News 1 Raleigh team in October 2022. A native of Rochester, New York, Anissa knew from an early age she wanted to be a journalist. She watched the local news channels with her grandparents and admired the work they were doing to keep the community informed.

She attended Kent State University in Ohio before transferring to the University of Tampa in Florida. She earned a bachelor’s degree in journalism with a minor in communications.

During Anissa’s time in Tampa, she joined the campus and tv station and newspaper club. She also interned at WHAM news, which is one of the stations she grew up watching.

After college, Anissa worked for thrree years as a reporter and producer at the ABC affiliate in Salisbury, Maryland.

Anissa loves working as a reporter because it allows her to get to know people, try new experiences, and learn what makes different communities so special.

When she is not dedicating her time to storytelling, Anissa enjoys working out, traveling, trying out new restaurants, reading, and watching sports (Go Bills!).

Anissa is ready to immerse herself in all that North Carolina has to offer and meet all the wonderful people that make up this state.
