ST. LOUIS — One person has died after a home explosion in Florissant.
Police said Michael Blankenship was in the process of making fireworks in his home on Trinity Lane on Wednesday, May 28, when the explosion occurred. He was transported to a nearby hospital but later died from his injuries.
The St. Louis Bomb and Arson Unit was sent to the scene to assist with the investigation. The explosion damaged adjacent homes, including a home on Calbreath Drive. Damage reports state that windows shattered and siding was destroyed.
Police are reassuring the public that there is no threat to public safety and the scene has been secured.
