JEFFERSON COUNTY, Mo. —Spectrum opened a new Field Operations Center in Herculaneum Friday. The $2 million facility is part of a multi-year initiative to provide internet in more rural areas, according to a press release.
"Our employees live and work in the communities we serve, and more than half of our employees at our Herculancum facility live in Jefferson County," said Aaron Detwiler, Area Vice President for Spectrum's Missouri Management Area. "We're here to serve customers, but also support the local economy and be good neighbors."
The field center, located at 1555 McNutt Street, employs more than 100 employees who service homes, businesses, and network infrastructure. The company plans to hire an additional 100 field operations workers in the St. Louis region in the coming months.
The expansion aims to provide service for more than 6,000 homes and businesses in Jefferson County and the surrounding area. Job openings can be found at jobs.spectrum.com.
The rural expansion initiative is driven by more than $7 billion in private investment from the company and will add over 100,000 miles of fiber-optic network infrastructure, according to a press release.
