ST. LOUIS — A family member of the mother and daughter struck and killed after attending a Drake concert earlier this year in St. Louis filed a lawsuit against the suspected driver and owner of the vehicle.
The lawsuit was filed Tuesday by Michelle Del Bosque on behalf of her sister Laticha Bracero, 42, and her niece Alyssa Cordova, 21, both from Chicago.
The women died after being struck by a speeding vehicle while crossing the road near the Enterprise Center after attending the concert in February.
The driver has been identified as 22-year-old Monte Henderson. He already has been charged with two counts of first-degree involuntary manslaughter and two counts of armed criminal action.
The owner of the vehicle has been identified as Monet Arps. She currently does not face any charges.
The lawsuit claims that Bracero and Cordova died as a result of negligent acts and recklessness by both Henderson and Arps.
It states that Henderson was under the influence of alcohol while driving with a blood alcohol level of .194.
The lawsuit also details Henderson’s multiple state and municipal traffic tickets and violations, which Arps “knew or should have known” about before letting him use her car.
Police say Henderson was traveling eastbound on Olive Street, from Compton, at a high rate of speed and was running red lights at the time of the crash.
Bosque is seeking $50,000 from Henderson and $25,000 from Arps for damages, according to the lawsuit, as well as covering court costs, pre- and post-judgment interest and any additional relief as deemed appropriate by the court.
