ST. LOUIS — Ted Drewes Jr. of the iconic frozen custard business that bears his name has died at 96.

The company confirmed Drewes died earlier this week.

He celebrated his 96th birthday back in February.

“His dedication to keeping the St. Louis staple alive for generations is truly inspiring,” a Facebook post states.

His father, Ted Drewes Sr., opened the family’s first frozen custard shop in 1929.

Over the decades, the family-owned business has become a St. Louis staple to what residents and tourists know today.
