University City celebrated the new Target with a groundbreaking that was more than five years in the making.

The Target, being built near I-170 and Olive next to the new Costco, will be the largest of the region.

"It’ll mean so much, not only to our community but also our school district because the revenue they will generate over not just the next few years but over the next 20 years, 30 years," said Mayor Terry Crow.

Crow said a minimum sized target does over $50 million in sales a year, he expects this one will easily go beyond.
