ST. CHARLES COUNTY, Mo. — The Board of Trustees for the St. Charles City-County Library has called a special meeting for Friday, May 17, where members could vote to close specific branches and lay off employees.
The board says it will hear a presentation on the state of the library, review a proposal on the system's future direction and may take a vote after public comment.
There are 11 branches in the system.
The special meeting will start at 6 p.m. at the Middendorf-Kredell Branch in meeting rooms A and B. The library branch is located at 2750 Highway K in O’Fallon. The meeting also will be live streamed on St. Charles City-County Library's YouTube page.
A temporary branch was established at Mid Rivers Mall while the Spencer Road location in St. Peters is closed for renovation.
The project includes reconfiguring the atrium and adding a patio cover to the outdoor space. Renovations are expected to cost approximately $2.1 million.
The branch is expected to reopen soon.
In July, the Middendorf-Kredell Branch also will receive renovations, including new restrooms, carpet, meeting and study rooms, a service desk and more.
Renovations will cost approximately $2.1 million.
The renovations of both branches are part of the Library’s new strategic plan, “Destination 2027.”
