1. 11 injured, one killed following mass shooting at party in downtown St. Louis

A shooting early Sunday in a downtown St. Louis office building killed a 17-year-old and wounded 11 other teenagers, the city's police commissioner said during a weekend briefing. The incident has prompted the city to expand its youth programming this summer.

2. Questions over security raised after shooting at St. Louis party

As cleanup continued Monday at a downtown office building where a mass shooting took place early Sunday, some St. Louis residents have questions about the incident. Downtown St. Louis resident Ron Nash told Spectrum News that he wonders how the people involved had access to the office building. He said someone must have known that the building was unlocked and coordinated the party.

3. Spate of weekend mass shootings leaves 6 people dead, dozens injured across U.S.

The shootings follow a surge in homicides and other violence over the past several years that experts say accelerated during the coronavirus pandemic. They happened in suburban Chicago, Washington state, central Pennsylvania, St. Louis, Southern California and Baltimore.

4. Proposed highway expansion connecting St. Louis to rural Illinois hoping for federal funding boost

A U.S. Senate committee this week begins the work of fleshing out details of the 2024 fiscal year spending plan, a process that a coalition of southwestern Illinois communities hopes ultimately includes funding for a long-considered plan to create a rural expressway between St. Louis and Carbondale.

5. Video: Deputy, stranded driver rescued after being sucked into drainage pipe in Escambia County

Deputy William Hollingsworth had been rescuing stranded drivers from rising water on Friday, when he and one of those drivers both got sucked underwater and got pulled into a drainage pipe. Officials said that the county had been experiencing severe weather and torrential downpours.

6. More than 1 million dropped from Medicaid as states purge rolls
More than 1 million people have been dropped from Medicaid in the past couple months as some states moved swiftly to halt health care coverage following the end of the coronavirus pandemic.
