ST. LOUIS – The National Weather Service now says there were 12 tornadoes produced from Saturday night's severe weather. Preliminary surveys show there were four in Missouri and eight in Illinois Saturday evening, according to the National Weather Service (NWS).

Tuesday afternoon, the NWS announced four additional tornadoes from April 15. One in Signal Hill, Ill. was an EF0. The other three were rated EFU, meaning they did ot produce known damage. The NWS used video evidence to identify them. 

Monday, survey teams were able to survey damage and believe an EF1 that touched down just north of Festus and traveled for four miles before dissipating in Herculaneum. 

Seven other weak tornadoes have been previoulsy surveyed. The NWS's preliminary report points towards EF1 tornadoes in Feton, Mo., Pevely, Mo., Belleville, Swansea Ill. and Hecker, Ill. says the NWS. The tornadoes with an EF0 strength are in Hillsboro, Mo. and Valmeyer, Ill.

Damage Reports

The twister in Fenton was on the ground for 4.5 miles Saturday when it tore through the Valley Park area of St. Louis County, according to the NWS's preliminary data.The Fenton storm started at I-44 and Highway 141 and was on the ground until it reached Tapawingo Golf Course in Sunset Hills. Buder Park in Fenton had many trees toppled. There were no injuries reported in that area. 

Further south in Pevely, the NWS believes an EF1 twister touched down there as well.  City crews were out with chainsaws cutting up trees and reparing power downed power lines along Highway 61/67 near Highway Z. There were reports of semis flipped on I-55 as the storm barreled through the area. 

Nearby in Festus and Herculaneum, an EF1 tornado downed many trees as well, and also brought down the pavilion at Kade's Park. 

It wasn't tornado damage, but winds caused windows to blow out at The Pointe in Ballwin. The indoor aquatic center had glass damage from last night’s storm. Plywood is up now and the pool is closed until further notice but the rest of the facility remains open.

On the Illinois side, there was also a lot of downed trees and power lines. The Hecker twister was the longest one, on the ground for 16.3 miles. It damaged barns and silos in its path. 

Sullivan, Mo. also saw damage due to Saturday night's storm, but the NWS says it was due to 70 mph straight line winds.

Power is restored to nearly all customers with less than 1,000 outages reported as of Monday afternoon. There were more than 40,000 outages at the height of the storm.
